The Gift of a Dull Moment

The Gift of a Dull Moment

Life, as we've come to know it, has become faster, more fleeting, and occasionally, blurry. The very fact that I'm writing this newsletter for the 8th month of 2024 boggles the mind!

Believe me when I tell you, that more and more, I 'get it'… like why people leave their Christmas lights up! My days are filled with to-do lists, goal setting, errands, zoom calls, deadlines, projects, chores. Does this sound familiar? And it seems, one week I'm checking your children, watching their heights change on the "How Tall Wall", then suddenly they are driving themselves in to get checked. wow…

How does time pass so quickly? Same 24/7 but somehow we went from being on a Zoom call to living IN a zoom life..leading to the catch phrase "never a dull moment".

The Dull Moment.  I have learned I need to create space and time to just be and step out of the calendar I have created. To create a sacred space to truly appreciate the little things all around me that being busy can cause me to miss. So, since we already have June and July in the record books, let's see what is possible. How creating intentionally freed up moments can actually be the gift of MORE this August. I challenge you to slow down, pause, sit, silence your phones and your mind. Create some dull moments (ok not dull, but valuable unfilled time) this month to bask, savor and remember what's most important.

Can you imagine opening a gift and having it be more TIME? How would you spend it? How about just a few extra minutes in the morning to put your feet in the grass, wiggle your toes, and sit still before you begin the day? How about time with a loved one? A child or a senior to offer your undivided attention for some memory making. Time well spent doing a simple thing is priceless.

Years ago, I created a definition for vacation… to vacate and empty and let go. What would a day, or an afternoon of no computer or phone look and feel like?

If that thought makes you squirmy, that's something to think about…

As you make time for some treasured dull moments, your nerve system never stops caring for you. Your body's innate intelligence is on the job within you, organizing and adapting and renewing you. By taking the time to quiet your mind and heighten your own awareness of your many gifts, you will bring about lasting serenity that will benefit your healing ability, lowering stress and creating more ease.

How about this: After your next adjustment, sit still, close your eyes in our chairs or in your car, or head into our gardens. Take a quiet moment to appreciate all that your life and health are providing you. You will soon find that your dull moment was well spent.

Wishing you some special dull moments…  See you on the tables!
